Patriots’ Trade For TE Michael Roberts Voided, Lions Waiving Him

The Detroit Lions announced Friday that their trade agreement with the Patriots for TE Michael Roberts has been voided after he failed a physical.

Roberts reverts back to the Lions, who will place him on waivers.

The Patriots agreed to send a conditional 2020 seventh-round (Falcons) to the Lions for Roberts.

Roberts, 25, is a former fourth-round pick of the Lions back in 2017. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $2.99 million contract.

Roberts stands to make base salaries of $645,000 and $735,000 over the next two years before becoming an unrestricted free agent in 2021.

In 2018, Roberts appeared in eight games for the Lions and caught nine passes for 100 yards receiving and three touchdowns.
