Patriots Waive DL Ricky Jean Francois, Promote WR Bernard Reedy

Field Yates reports that the Patriots have waived veteran DL Ricky Jean Francois and promoted WR Bernard Reedy to their active roster.

Francois, 31, is a former seventh-round pick of the 49ers back in 2009. He played four seasons for San Francisco before departing and signing on with the Colts as an unrestricted free agent.

After two years, the Colts cut Jean-Francois loose and he signed a three-year, $9 million contract with the Redskins in February of 2015. Washington released him during the offseason and he later signed a one-year, $3 million contract with the Packers.

Jean-Francois was on and off of the Packers’ roster this year before the Patriots signed him to a contract last month.

In 2017, Jean Francois has appeared in nine games for the Packers and Patriots and recorded four tackles and no sacks.

Reedy, 25, originally signed on with the Falcons as an undrafted free agent out of Toledo back in 2014. He was unfortunately among their roster cuts at the start of the 2015 season and eventually signed a future/reserve contract with the Buccaneers.

Reedy was able to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason, but the Buccaneers elected to move on from him last month and he signed on to the Patriots’ practice squad a few weeks later.

In 2017, Reedy has appeared in nine games for the Buccaneers and caught two passes for 21 yards receiving to go along with 17 yards rushing and no touchdowns. He’s totaled 145 kick return yards and 143 punt return yards.
