Wes Welker Likely Returning To New England On A Three-Year Deal?

Greg A. Bedard writes that there’s “a good deal of optimism” between both the Patriots and WR Wes Welker that they’ll be able to reach an agreement on a three-year contract.

Bedard adds that “anything can happen,” but numerous reports have indicated that there’s a good chance that this could happen.

With the Patriots having signed quarterback Tom Brady to a cap-friendly extension; the team now has enough room to make him a competitive offer.

New England would have a hard time replacing him, so it makes sense that they would adjust their strategy towards not paying veteran players in their thirties.

We have Welker listed as the No. 9 best available free agent in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
