Raiders DE Arden Key Had Offseason Shoulder Surgery

Raiders second-year DE Arden Key told reporters (per Michael Gehlken) on Wednesday that he underwent shoulder surgery back in January to have it “cleaned out.”

According to Key, the injury happened before the 2018 season.

The good news, however, is that he says he’s healthy as ever and becoming more and more comfortable as an NFL player, per Scott Bair. Key added that he’s now up to 260 pounds from 245 last year.

Key, 23, is a former third-round pick of the Raiders back in 2018. He’s entering the second year of his four-year, $3,286,376 contract that includes an $826,376 signing bonus.

In 2018, Key appeared in all 16 games for the Raiders and recorded 30 tackles and a sack. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 92 edge rusher out of 103 qualifying players.
