Raiders Promote Two, Place OL Jordan Devey On IR

According to Vic Tafur, the Raiders promoted WR Marcell Ateman and G Lester Cotton from their practice squad and placed OL Jordan Devey on injured reserve.

Tafur notes that Raiders WR Tyrell Williams and G Richie Incognito missed Friday’s practice, so it appears Oakland is preparing to be without them.

Ateman, 24, was selected in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL Draft by the Raiders. He agreed to a four-year, $2.55 million contract, but was waived by the Raiders coming out of the preseason.

The Raiders promoted him in October of last year and he finished off the 2018 season on their active roster.

Oakland re-signed him to a one-year exclusive rights deal back in April but cut him loose coming out of the preseason. He signed with the practice squad, once again, after passing through waivers.

In 2018, Ateman appeared in seven games for the Raiders and recorded 15 receptions for 154 yards receiving (10.3 YPC) and one touchdown.

Devey, 31, originally signed on with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent out of Memphis back in 2013. He lasted just a few months in Baltimore before he was cut loose at the start of the 2013 season.

Devey had brief stints with the Patriots and 49ers before he was claimed off of waivers in 2016. He spent two years with the Chiefs before re-signing to a one-year deal in March of last year.

The Raiders signed him as an unrestricted free agent this offseason to a one-year, $895,000 contract.

In 2018, Devey appeared in seven games for the Chiefs.  He was placed on injured reserve in October.
