It’s worth mentioning that signing Harris to a contract won’t impact a team’s 2019 compensatory picks, given that he was released this offseason.
The Raiders traded Cordarrelle Patterson to the Patriots a few weeks ago, so they were clearly in need of a kick returner.
Harris, 30, is a former sixth-round pick of the Cowboys back in 2011. He spent four years in Dallas before signing a five-year, $17.5 million contract that included $7.1 million guaranteed with the Giants in 2015.
Harris was set to make base salaries of $3.225 million over the remaining two years of the agreement when the Giants released him a few weeks ago in a move that freed upย $2.45 millionย of available cap space.
In 2017, Harris appeared in five games for the Giants and totaled 188 kick return yards and 48 punt return yards, but did not catch a pass. The Giants placed him on injured reserve with a fractured foot in October.
