Rams OLB Dominique Easley Likely Out For Season Following Knee Surgery

Ramsย HC Sean McVay said Monday that OLB Dominique Easley underwent surgery Monday morning and is likely to be placed on injured reserve, per Myles Simmons.

A few days ago, McVay said it was possible Easley may need another knee surgery to clean up his knee.

โ€œWeโ€™reย looking into itย and this poor guy has been through a whole lot,โ€ McVay said, via TheRams.com. โ€œIn terms of exactly what that means, you just look at how much his knee has been through, the amount of surgeries, the way that he has persevered through it. It might be something that if he has to get that thing cleaned up again, it will be a tough situation. Weโ€™re still evaluating, but itโ€™s looking like it could be something that could keep him out for a while.โ€

Easley, 26, was taken with the No. 29 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. He wasย in the third of his four-year, $7.303 million rookie contractย when he was cut loose by the Patriotsย in 2016 and later signed to aย one-year deal worth $600,000 by the Rams.

Easley returned to the Rams last year on a first-round restricted tender worth $3.91 millionย for the 2017 season. However, he suffered a season-ending ACL tear last summer and was placed on injured reserve.

The Rams re-signed Easley to aย one-year deal, $1.85 million this past March.

Easleyโ€™s career has largely been marred by injury, as he appeared in just 22 games over the course of his three years in the NFL with all three seasons ending with him on injured reserve. In college,ย Easley tore both of his ACLs while playing for Florida, so there were obvious concerns about injuries with him.

In 2018, Easley has appeared in three games and recorded four tackles and no sacks for the Rams.
