Rams Restructure QB Jared Goff’s Contract, Pick Up $7M Of Cap Room

Lindsey Thiry of ESPN reports that the Rams are restructuring QB Jared Goff‘s contract to create some much-needed cap space.

Adam Schefter says this move creates $7 million of cap room for the Rams.

The Rams finally announced that they’ve signed DL A’Shawn Robinson and OLB Leonard Floyd to contracts on Friday, despite the deals being first reported over a month ago.

Los Angeles has been tight on cap space all offseason, so this shouldn’t come as a big surprise.

Goff, 25, was the No. 1 overall pick by the Rams out of Cal back in 2016. He was entering the final year of his four-year deal worth $27.9 million when the Rams picked up Goff’s fifth-year option.

From there, the Rams signed Goff to a four-year, $134 million extension that includes an NFL record $110 million guaranteed last year.

In 2019, Goff appeared in all 16 games for the Rams and completed 62.9 percent of his passes for 4,638 yards, 22 touchdowns and 16 interceptions. He also rushed for 40 yards and two touchdowns.
