Rams Rookie OLB Obo Okoronkwo Likely To Open Season On PUP List

Ramsย HC Sean McVay told reporters on Monday (per Myles Simmons) that itโ€™s unlikely rookie OLB Obo Okoronkwo (foot) will be activated from the active/PUP prior to the start of the regular season.

This means that the Okoronkwo will likely move to the reserve/PUP list, which would cost him the first six games of the 2018ย season.

Okoronkwo underwent foot surgery a few weeks after the draft.

Okoronkwo, 23, was taken with the No. 160 overall pick in the fifth-round of this year’s draft by the Rams. Los Angeles actually traded up with the Broncos and sent two sixth-round picks to Denver as part of the deal to select Okoronkwo.

Okoronkwoย signed a four-yearย contractย with the Rams worth $2,734,536 and includes a base salary of $480,000 for the 2018 season.

During his four-year college career at Oklahoma, Okoronkwo recorded 162 tackles, 33 tackles for a loss, 20 sacks, five forced fumbles, two recoveries and five pass defenses over the course of 35 games.
