According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the St. Louis Rams see RB Isaiah Pead as the eventual successor to Steven Jackson.
Schefter adds that “a lot of teams really coveted Pead,”ย and probably wouldn’t have lasted much longer had the Rams decided to pass on him at No. 50 overall.
Pead, out of Cincinnati, was one of three second-round selections by St. Louis. There was no question that they had to come away from this year’s draft with another running back to offset the Jackson’s workload. Pead is a smaller running back, but provides plenty of speed and was a real standout at this year’s Senior Bowl.
