Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that the Rams are signing former Lions DT A’Shawn Robinson to a two-year, $17 million contract.
Robinson is one of the more interesting defensive linemen in this year’s free agent class, as he’s shown some plus ability and is still only 24 years old, despite having four years of experience.
The Rams lost Michael Brockers to the Ravens, so Robinson figures to slide in next to Aaron Donald.
Robinson, 24, is a former second-round pick of the Lions back in 2016. He played out the final year of his four-year, $5.234 million contract and was testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his NFL career.
In 2019, Robinson appeared in 13 games for the Lions and recorded 40 tackles, 1.5 sacks, a forced fumble, two recoveries and three pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 95 interior defensive lineman out of 114 qualifying players.
We had him included in our Top 100 Available 2020 Free Agents list.
