Baltimore Ravens G Alex Lewis announced on his Instagram page that he was released by the team.
Lewis had just passed his physical following his shoulder injury, per Jeff Zrebiec, and was set to join the competition for the Ravens starting left guard position.
By waiting until he passed his physical, the Ravens don’t have to pay Lewis an injury settlement.
Lewis, 27, is a former fourth-round pick of the Ravens back in 2016. He was in the final year of his four-year, $2.831 million contract and stood to make a base salary of $828,539 for the 2019 season.
In 2018, Lewis appeared in 10 games for the Ravens while starting all of them. He was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 67 guard out of 77 qualifying players.
