Ravens Release TE Visanthe Shiancoe

The Baltimore Ravens have announced the release of veteran TE Visanthe Shiancoe.

With Tuesday’s deadline to cut their roster to 75 players coming up, the Ravens have decided to waive Shiancoe a month after signing him a one-year deal.

After a failed 2012 attempt in New England, Shiancoe had been brought in after starters Dennis Pitta and Ed Dickson had gone down with injuries. Pitta is likely to miss most of the 2013 season and could end up sitting out the entire year. Dickson is close to returning and fellow veteran Dallas Clark is viewed as a more valuable asset than Shiancoe.

Shiancoe, 33, has yet to make a catch since 2011 when he was still part of the Vikings roster.

Baltimore also announced the release a number of players which includes former starter G Ramon Harewood.
