Ravens Sign TE Gabe Holmes & CB Stanley Jean-Baptiste To Practice Squad

The Baltimore Ravens announced Tuesday that theyโ€™ve signed TE Gabe Holmes and CB Stanley Jean-Baptiste to their practice squad.

  • The Ravens also released CB Josh Thornton and placed FB Ricky Ortiz on the practice squad injured list.

The Ravensโ€™ practice squad now consists of:

  1. FB Ricky Ortiz (Injured)
  2. G Maurquice Shakir
  3. WR Quincy Adeboyejo
  4. QB Josh Woodrum
  5. Ronald Martin
  6. G Arie Kouandjio
  7. LB Nicholas Grigsby
  8. RB John Crockett
  9. TE Ryan Malleck
  10. TE Gabe Holmes
  11. CB Stanley Jean-Baptiste

Holmes, 26, wound up signing on with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent out of Purdue back in May of 2015. He managed to make the 53-man roster coming out of preseason, but was cut loose just a few weeks later.

The Raiders later signed him to their practice squad after he cleared waivers and elected to bring Holmes back on a one-year, exclusive rights contract this past April. Unfortunately, Oakland waived him coming out of the preseason and he later signed on to the Seahawksโ€™ practice squad.

Seattle elected to release him last week.

Holmes has yet to appear in an NFL game.

Jean-Baptiste, 27, is a former second-round pick of the Saints back in 2014. He lasted just over a year in New Orleans before he was waived at the start of the 2015 season and later signed to the Lionsโ€™ practice squad.

The Seahawks signed him towards the end of the 2015 season and brought him back on a future/reserve contract. However, Seattle declined to tender him a contract as a restricted free agent this past March.

The Chiefs later signed him to a contract a few months ago before cutting him loose in June. The Jaguars signed him to a contract a month later before waiving him coming out of the preseason.

In 2014, Jean-Baptiste appeared in four games for the Saints, but didnโ€™t record a single statistic.
