Redskins CB Quinton Dunbar Set To Meet With HC Ron Rivera, Not Requesting Trade

Per Al Galdi, Redskins CB Quinton Dunbar said that he is not seeking to be traded or released from the Redskins, he just wants to know where he stands with the new coaching staff.

To that end, Dunbar is set to meet with Redskins HC Ron Rivera on Thursday to discuss the relationship with him and the team going forward.

Dunbar had previously confirmed his request for a fresh start after extension negotiations with Washington had broken off following the change of staff. Dunbar also said he planned to skip voluntary OTA’s without a new contract.

While Dunbar is signed through the 2020 season, his base salary of $3.25 million is far below the $15 million average the Redskins are paying CB Josh Norman, who was benched for Dunbar last year.

Dunbar, 27, originally signed on with the Redskins as an undrafted free agent out of Florida back in 2015. He was waived at the start of the 2015 season and was later added to the Redskins’ practice squad before being promoted a few weeks later.

Washingon re-signed Dunbar to a three-year, $10.5 million extension through the 2020 season in January of last year. He’s set to make a base salary of $3.25 million next season.

In 2019, Dunbar appeared in 11 games and recorded 37 total tackles, one tackle for loss, four interceptions and eight pass defenses. Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 2 overall cornerback out of 113 qualifying players.

Weโ€™ll have more regarding Dunbar as the news is available.
