JP Finlay reports that the Redskins are expected to finalize a deal with OLB Pernell McPhee on Monday.

Over the weekend, Jordan Schultz reported that McPhee had informed the Falcons that he plans to sign with the Redskins, so this doesn’t come as a big surprise.

It’s worth mentioning that signing McPhee to a contract won’t impact a team’s 2019 compensatory picks, given that he was released this offseason.

McPhee, 29, is a former fifth-round pick of the Ravens back in 2011. He spent four years in Baltimore before signing a five-year, $38.75 million contract that included $15.5 million guaranteed back in 2015.

McPhee was set to make base salaries of $7.2 million and $7.625 million over the next two years when the Bears released him this offseason in a move that freed up $7,075,000 of available cap space.

In 2017, McPhee appeared in 13 games for the Bears and recorded 21 tackles, four sacks, a forced fumble and two pass defenses.

We have him featured in our Top 50 Available 2018 NFL Free Agents list.
