John Keim of ESPN reports that the Redskins have expressed “some interest” in free agent DE/OLB Brandon Copeland. However, the Redskins have yet to schedule a visit with Copeland.
According to Keim, the Redskins would like to add one or two more edge rushers including during the draft.
Doug Kyed of NESN previously reported that the Patriots have inquired about Copeland, but he’s yet to meet with them up to this point.
Copeland, 27, originally signed on with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent out of Pennsylvania back in 2013. He lasted just a few months with the team before he was waived and later caught on with the Titans during his rookie season.
After a year in Tennessee, Copeland signed a one-year contract with the Lions and returned to Detroit on a one-year, $615,000 exclusive rights contract the following year. The Jets signed Copeland to a one-year contract last March.
In 2018, Copeland appeared in all 16 games for the Jets and recorded 35 tackles, five sacks and two pass defenses.
We had him featured in our Top 100 Available Free Agents list.
