The Redskins have “reason to hope” that QB Robert Griffin III will play against the Eagles in Week 16, according to ESPN.
HC Mike Shanahan noted that team doctors hadn’t yet cleared Griffin to play and that the signal caller wouldn’t take the field until given the absolute O.K.
Backup Kirk Cousins had a great game last week and helped the Redskins to a 38-21 trouncing of the Cleveland Browns, so rushing back Griffin before the playoffs and jeopardizing his long-term health, especially with the lowly Eagles up next, isn’t at the top of Washington’s priority list.
