John Keim of the Washington Examiner reports Monday that Washington Redskins linebacker Brian Orakpo, speaking from the golf course for his charity event, claims the Redskins have yet to discuss an extension with the former first-round pick.
Orakpo is entering the final season of his rookie deal. CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora reported back in February the Redskins were determined to lock the 26-year-old up to a long term deal during the offseason. Orakpo today states that has yet to happen.
One concern Washington could have would be Orakpo’s health, as he has torn his left pectoral muscle twice in the last two years. Orakpo today claims he’s fully healthy and feels no aches or pains.
In addition to simply working on a long term deal, Orakpo stated he’d be happy to be a Washington Redskin for life. Time will tell.
