Redskins Met With Maryland S Darnell Savage Tuesday

According to Jeff Zrebiec, Maryland S Darnell Savage met with Redskins officials on Tuesday.

Zrebiec writes Savage has been gaining momentum headed into the draft. In fact, recent buzz has Savage as a potential late first-round pick on Thursday.

It’s also worth mentioning NBC’s Josh Norris released a mock draft on Tuesday with the Redskins trading back to select Savage.

Savage Jr, 21, was a three-year starter at Maryland who initially played cornerback before transitioning to safety in 2016. Most draft analysts have him as a mid-round prospect in this year’s draft.

Lance Zierlein compares Savage Jr to S Lamarcus Joyner.

During his four-year college career at Maryland, Savage Jr recorded 182 tackles, one sack, eight interceptions, two defensive touchdowns, 13 pass defenses and a fumble recovery over the course of 40 games.
