The Washington Redskins announced that OLB Brian Orakpo officially signed his franchise tender on Thursday.

Orakpo will make $11.455 million fully guaranteed for the 2014 season.
New HC Jay Gruden recently mentioned that he’s comfortable allowing Orakpo to play out the season under the franchise tag, instead of locking him up to a long-term deal, so it will be interesting to see if the front office agrees with this, and extension talks start up in the coming months.
Orakpo finished the 2013 season with 10 sacks and has 39.5 career sacks in just 64 games for the Redskins defense and is clearly one of the best edge rushers in the league.
Pro Football Focus had Orakpo rated as the No. 4 outside linebacker in a 3-4 system.
