Redskins Worked Out Four Safeties Including Veteran S J.J. Wilcox

According to Howard Balzer, the Washington Redskins brought in four safeties for workouts on Monday including S J.J. Wilcox.

The full list of tryouts for the Redskins includes:

  1. S Kurtis Drummond
  2. S Kelcie McCray
  3. S Jason Thompson
  4. S J.J. Wilcox

Of the group, the Redskins signed Thompson to their practice squad.

Wilcox, 27, is a former third-round pick of the Cowboys back in 2013. He has played out his four-year, $2,811,068 contract with the Cowboys before signing a two-contract with the Buccaneers worth up to $8.5 million.

The Buccaneers traded him to the Steelers at the start of the 2017 season for a 2018 sixth-round pick. Wilcox was set to make a base salary of $3.125 million for the 2018 season when the Steelers released him during the offseason.

Wilcox later signed on with the Jets this past June before being released earlier in the month.

In 2018, Wilcox has appeared in five games for the Jets and recorded three tackles and no interceptions.
