Ed Werderย ofย ESPN reports thatย the Cowboys are in the process ofย “negotiating a multi-year deal” with DE/OLB Anthony Spencer.
Dallas placed their franchise tag onย Spencer for the secondย consecutiveย season, which leaves him with aย $10.627 million guaranteed base salary for the 2013 season.
The Cowboys have just over $100,000 in cap space to work with and will reportedly be meeting withย safetiesย Michael Huff and Will Allen, as well asย LB Justin Durant at some point today.
Locking up Spencer long-term would free up enough cap space to sign at least one of these players and their 2013 rookie class.
Dallas is also trying to re-sign Tony Romo as well, but it’s hard to say where things stand regarding this situation at his point in time.
