ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Miami Dolphins have released veteran CBย Dimitri Patterson on Monday.
- Mike Garafolo reports that the Dolphins have left the door open for Patterson to return at some point.
Barry Jacksonย previously mentioned that Pattersonย had the fourth highest salary on the team, and was likely to be paying elsewhere next season.
Patterson, 30, had one year remaining on hisย three-year, $16.05 million contract and releasing him will free upย $5.4 million in cap space for the Dolphins,ย according toย OverTheCap.com.
Miami placed him onย season-endingย injured reserve with aย groin injury back in December of last year. He totaledย 19 tackles, one sack and four interceptions for the Dolphins last season.
