Report: Dolphins Release CB Dimitri Patterson

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Miami Dolphins have released veteran CB Dimitri Patterson on Monday.

  • Mike Garafolo reports that the Dolphins have left the door open for Patterson to return at some point.

Barry Jackson previously mentioned that Patterson had the fourth highest salary on the team, and was likely to be paying elsewhere next season.

Patterson, 30, had one year remaining on his three-year, $16.05 million contract and releasing him will free up $5.4 million in cap space for the Dolphins, according to OverTheCap.com.

Miami placed him on season-ending injured reserve with a groin injury back in December of last year. He totaled 19 tackles, one sack and four interceptions for the Dolphins last season.
