Update:
Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, reports that Jets free agent RT Austin Howard is visiting with the Oakland Raiders.
- Mehta previously reported that the Jets are still working on a new contract for right tackle Howard, however, he has been receiving calls from other interest teams.
Oakland is obviously focused on improving their offensive line given that they already locked up Rodgers Saffold to a long-term deal Tuesday.
Howard, 26, should be one of the top right tackles available in this year’s free agent class. However, right tackles haven’t fared all that well on the open market, so we’ll have to see if the Jets’ offer is enough to persuade him against testing free agency.
Howard was rated as the No. 47 qualifying tackle in the league last season, according to Pro Football Focus.
