ESPN’s Adam Schefterย reported Sunday morningย that Vikings RB Adrian Peterson and his representatives are currently in ongoing talks to reach a plea agreement regarding his child-abuse case.
- Schefter mentions that there is a possibility that an agreement could be done as early as next Tuesday.
Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, citing a source with knowledge of the situation, is reporting thatย a plea agreement wouldย reduce Peterson’sย pending charges from a felony to a misdemeanor.
According to Florio, this would triggerย less severe sanctions andย could even result in reduced punishment fromย the NFL.
Peterson remains on the commissioner exempt list and has missed eight straight weeks. However, it’s unclear how the NFL wouldย weigh the eight gamesย Peterson has missed while his legal case plays out.
The most interesting note from Florio is that he doesn’t rule out the possibility of Peterson returning at some point this season.
We’ll have more updates regarding Peterson and a potential plea agreement next week.
