Report: Roy Helu’s 2014 Base Salary Will Double Next Season

According to theย Washington Times, RBย Roy Helu has activated aย โ€œproven performance escalatorโ€ย in his contract that will more than double his salary next season.

Helu was slated to makeย $645,000 in 2014, but afterย playing in more than 35 percent of the Redskinsโ€™ offensive snaps in two of his three season in the NFL he will now makeย $1.389 million.

Helu, 25, has proven to be a solid compliment toย Alfred Morris and figures to remain in a complimentary role with the team next season. He will be entering the final year of his rookie contract, so this figures to be a very important season for him and his chances of securing a multi-year contract.

In 34 games in the NFL, Helu has totaledย 916 yards rushing on 215ย carries (4.3 YPC) to go along withย 675 yards receiving and seven total touchdowns.
