Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, citing a league source, reports that the Seahawks are no longer an option for free agent TEย Jermichael Finley, even though he has finally received medical clearance.
- Florio adds that Seattleย “decided to pull the plug on efforts to sign Finley.”
A few months ago, Finley took a free agent visit toย Seattle where he underwentย tests on his surgically fused spine, so it appeared as though they could be the favorites to sign him once healthy.
Finley’s agent mentioned last week that heย was set toย visit a โmysteryโ team on Friday, butย no one has been able to confirm which team he met with.
- Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network points out that Finley faces a tough decision given that he can cashย a $10 million insurance policy if he never plays again.
Earlier in the day,ย Mike Reiss of ESPN Bostonย mentioned that the Patriots haveย “all eyes are on the tight end spot” and could be consider free agent options such as Finley or Dustin Keller.
The Packers are believed to be an option for Finley as they could still use some help at tight end, and are more than familiar with his ability and the kind of injury he’s coming off of.
The Giants have also been mentioned as a potential landing spot given that they too could use some more depth at tight end and they even brought in former Packers coach Ben McAdoo to run their offense.
We have Finley listed as the No. 1 player in our recently updatedย Top 50 – Best Available Free Agentsย list.
