Report: Seahawks Releasing DE Branden Jackson

Aaron Fentress of The Oregonian reports that the Seahawks have released DE Branden Jackson on Sunday.

Branden Jackson

Jackson, 27, originally signed on with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent out of Texas Tech back in May of 2016 but was cut loose coming out of the preseason and signed him to their practice squad.

The Raiders eventually promoted him to their active roster but, once again, made him among their final roster cuts the following preseason. Seattle signed him to their practice squad in September of 2017 and was eventually promoted to the active roster.

He returned to the Seahawks as an exclusive rights free agent for the 2018 and 2019 seasons before signing a one-year, restricted deal with Seattle this offseason worth $2.133 million.

In 2019, Jackson appeared in 15 games and recorded 20 total tackles and two sacks. Pro Football Focus rated him as the No. 101 overall edge defender out of 107 qualifying players.
