Report: Teams Have Expressed Interest In Jermichael Finley, But He’s Likely To Sit Out The Season

Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network reports that NFL teams continue to monitor the progress of free agent TE Jermichael Finley about playing this season.

However, La Canfora’s sources mention that it’s “99 percent certain” that Finley will not play this season.

Finley reportedly has close to a month to finalize paperwork regarding his $10 million disability insurance policy. As of now, Finley is still unable to pass a full NFL physical and the expectation right now is he will get his paperwork done for his insurance policy in the coming week.

La Canfora points out that it’s likely to take “several months” before Finley receives any payments from the policy. Finley could try to return next season as he has yet to close the door completely on playing in the NFL again.

Even though teams have interest in him, it’s doubtful that anyone would be willing to pay him anywhere close to the $10 million he could receive from his insurance policy, which only adds to the likelihood that he won’t suit up this season.
