Report: Texans Release QB T.J. Yates

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Networkreports that the Texans released QB T.J. Yates on Tuesday.

There has been speculation that either Yates or Keenum could be released or traded at some point in the near future given that the Texans had four quarterbacks on their roster, which is too many to give reps to during the offseason.

The Baltimore Ravens have come up as a potential landing spot for whoever Houston released due to the fact that former Texans HC Gary Kubiak is now running their offense and they could use a backup quarterback.

Yates, 27, still had one year remaining on his four-year, $2.416 million contract. He appeared in three games last season and completed 68.2 percent of his passes for 113 yards and two interceptions.
