Report: Tony Romo Won’t Play Today, Could Miss Week 10’s Game As Well

Desmond Purnellย is reporting that Cowboysย QB Tony Romo will not play in today’s game against theย Cardinals.

  • Purnell adds that Romoย has better chance of returning next week.
  • Ian Rapoport reports that Romo made the call not to play last night.
  • According to Rapoport, Cowboys’ coaches are already planning forย the possibility of Tony Romo not travelingย to London and allowing the pain in his back to dissipate during the bye.

Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas reported Saturday thatย Romo is dealing withย “two fractured transverse processes.

Dallas has said that this injury is unrelated to theย disk surgery he underwent back inย December of last year. Romo is not expected to miss the remainder of the season due to this injury, asย Baylor QBย Bryce Pettyย wound up missing only one game after he sufferedย a similar injury.

Brandon Weeden has taken all of Dallas’ first-team reps this week and would obviously be the team’s starter if Romo is in fact unable to suit up on Sunday.

We’ll have more updates regarding Romo’s status leading up to kickoff.
