Dianna Marie Russini reports that it’sย “very likely” WR Stevie Johnson will be signing withย with the New England Patriots.

  • In fact, Russini adds that a deal could beย done as soon as today.
  • Russini reported over the weekend that the Patriotsย wereย hosting Johnsonย for a visit on Monday.

He previously met with the San Diego Chargers on Friday, but these are his only two visits since he was cut loose by the 49ers last weekend.

Johnson, 28,ย was released by the 49ers in a move thatย freed up $6,025,000 in available cap spaceย for San Francisco.

In 2014, Johnson appeared in 13 games and caught 35 passes for 435 yards receiving and three touchdowns for the 49ers. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 22 receiver out of 110 qualifying players, which is pretty good considering that he only playedย 305 snaps.

We’ll have more regarding Johnson as the news is available.
