According to 0ne high-ranking personnel chief, “a lot” of teams don’t see Texas A&M QB Ryan Tannehill as a first-round pick.
“I can see a situation where he doesn’t go at all in the top 20,” said the personnel chief, per Ian Rapoport. “If Miami doesn’t grab him, and they got Mike Sherman there, the teams behind them are going to start questioning, what the hell are we doing taking him?”
Should Miami pass on him at number, there’s actually a decent chance that he could drop down into the twenties. The Kansas City Chiefs and the Seattle Seahawks have been rumored to have interest, but taking a quarterback in the first-round may not be in their best interests. Last year, Christian Ponder and Jake Lockers went much higher than many believed they would, so there’s still a chance that Tannehill could hear his named called within the first-ten picks.
