According to Katherine Terrell, the Saints have confirmed FB Michael Burton‘s positive COVID-19 test was a false positive.
Burton’s original sample was retested and came back negative. He and the other players in close contact with him also tested negatively on the rapid tests.
This means today’s game between the Saints and the Lions will proceed as planned despite the late scare, per Ian Rapoport. Burton will also not be on the COVID-19 list and will be able to play.
Burton initially tested positive last night after the team had already landed in Detroit for their road game against the Lions.
After a week full of negative COVID-19 news for the league, including the Titans, Patriots and Chiefs, this situation hopefully will work out okay.
