Adam Schefter reports that the Saints are signing restricted free agent QB Taysom Hill to a two-year deal.
- According to Charles Robinson, Hill’s two year deal with the Saints is worth $21 million and includes $16 million guaranteed. He can earn another $1 million in incentives.
This is really a one-year extension on top of Hill’s first-round restricted tender worth $4.6 million for the 2020 season.
News surfaced overnight that the Saints are signing Jameis Winston to a one-year contract, so New Orleans is clearly set at the quarterback position.
Hill situation will be interesting to watch in the coming years, as he could get a shot to replace Drew Brees as the Saints’ starting quarterback long term.
Hill, 29, wound up signing on with the Packers as an undrafted free agent out of BYU back in 2017. He was waived and later claimed off of waivers by the Saints.
Hill has played out the final year of his rookie contract before receiving a restricted tender from the Saints this March.
In 2019, Hill appeared in all 16 games for the Saints and completed 3 of 6 passes for 55 yards while rushing for 156 yards on 27 carries and one touchdown. He also caught 19 passes for 234 yards receiving and six touchdowns.
