The New Orleans Saints have signed veteran LB Manti Te’o to a contract on Tuesday, according to Rob DeMello.
The Saints are dealing with some injuries at linebacker and Te’o was with New Orleans last year and is familiar with their defensive scheme.
Te’o, 28, is a former second-round pick of the Chargers back in 2013. He played out the final year of his four-year rookie contract before agreeing to a two-year, $5 million deal with the Saints in 2017.
Te’o was been testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent dating back to March. He met with the Raiders and Lions during free agency but had found no reported interest since then.
In 2018, Te’o appeared in five games for the Saints and recorded 18 tackles, no sacks and a pass defense.
We had him featured in our Top 50 Available Free Agents list.
