Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Saints are planning to sign LB Travis Feeney off of the Steelers’ practice squad to bolster their depth at linebacker and special teams.
By doing so, the Saints will have to keep Feeney on their active roster for the next few weeks.
Feeney, 24, was taken in the sixth round of this year’s NFL draft by the Steelers. He was, unfortunately, unable to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason but was later signed to their practice squad at the start of the season.
During his college career at Washington, Freeney recorded 248 tackles, 15.5 sacks, four interceptions, four forced fumbles, two recoveries and 11 pass defenses over the course of four seasons.
