Saints Signing Ohio State QB J.T. Barrett

Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reports that the Saints are signing Ohio State QB J.T. Barrett to a contract, even though it was recently reported that he would be trying out for New Orleans.

  • Ian Rapoport reports that Barrett received a three-year contract from the Saints.

A report from over the weekend mentioned that Barrett was trying out for the Colts, but it looks like he was able to secure an opportunity with the Saints.

Barrett will compete for a spot with Tom Savage and Taysom Hill this summer.

Barrett wound up going undrafted this past weekend, despite a stellar career at Ohio State.

During his four years at OSU, Barrett threw for 9,434 yards while completing 63.5 percent of his passes to go along with 104 touchdowns and 30 interceptions. He also rushed for 3,263 yards and 43 touchdowns.
