Saints Signing QB J.T. Barrett To PS, Waiving DT Taylor Stallworth

Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that the Saints are re-signing QB J.T. Barrett to their practice squad now that they will be without Drew Brees for what’s expected to be around six weeks.

Saints DT Taylor Stallworth‘s agent announced Tuesday that his client has been waived.

The Saints’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. WR Taquan Mizzell
  2. OL John Leglue
  3. WR Emmanuel Butler
  4. WR Lil’Jordan Humphrey
  5. TE Dan Arnold
  6. TE Alize’ Mack
  7. OL Derrick Kelly II
  8. S Terrell Williams Jr.
  9. S T.J. Green
  10. DE Mitchell Loewen
  11. QB J.T. Barrett

Barrett, 24, wound up going undrafted out of Ohio State back in May before signing a three-year, $1.71 million contract with the Saints. New Orleans elected to waive Barrett as they cut their roster down to 53 players and he was on and off of their practice squad throughout the year.

Barrett returned to New Orleans on a futures deal this past January, but was cut loose in August. He later had a brief stint with the Seahawks.

During his four years at OSU, Barrett threw for 9,434 yards while completing 63.5 percent of his passes to go along with 104 touchdowns and 30 interceptions. He also rushed for 3,263 yards and 43 touchdowns.
