According to Mike Triplett, the Saints are trying out veteran WR Rishard Matthews at minicamp this week.
Matthews, 28, is a former seventh-round pick of the Dolphins back in 2012. He spent four years in Miami before signing a three-year, $15 million contract with the Titans in 2016.
Matthews was set to make a base salary of $5 million for the 2018 season when he agreed to a new one-year extension worth a base value of $7.75M for the 2019 season. The Titans elected to cut him loose soon after, however, after he requested his release from the team.
Matthews later caught on with the Jets and played out the rest of the season in New York. The Jets let him leave as an unrestricted free agent.
In 2018, Matthews appeared in eight games and caught five passes for 24 yards receiving and no touchdowns for the Jets and Titans.
We have Matthews featured in our Top 50 Available Free Agents list.
