The New Orleans Saints brought in five free agents for tryouts on Monday including TE Donnie Ernsberger, according to Aaron Wilson.
The full list of workouts for the Saints includes:
- TE Ethan Wolf
- TE A.J. Derby
- TE Donnie Ernsberger
- TE Ryan O’Malley
- WR Jake Lampman
Ernsberger, 23, wound up signing on with the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent out of Western Michigan back in April of 2018 He signed a three-year $1.71 million contract with the Buccaneers but was waived with an injury designation coming out of the preseason.
Ernsberger later reverted to the Buccaneers’ injured reserve list before being waived with a settlement. He returned to the Bucs’ practice squad but was cut loose in July of last year.
The Jaguars quickly claimed him off waivers but was waived after a month.
During his college career at Western Michigan, Ernsberger caught 45 passes for 528 yards receiving and five touchdowns over the course of 24 games.
In 2018, Ernsberger appeared in two games for the Buccaneers but did not catch a pass.
