According to Howard Balzer, the Saints brought in nine players for workouts on Wednesday, including DBs Briean Boddy-Calhoun and Kayvon Webster.
The full list of tryouts includes:
- DB Briean Boddy-Calhoun
- S Trae Elston
- WR Jonathan Duhart
- WR Jake Lampman
- WR Charone Peake
- CB Captain Munnerlyn
- CB Kayvon Webster
- FB Ricky Ortiz
- TE Jason Vander Laan
Of this group, New Orleans signed Elston and Vander Laan to their practice squad.
Boddy-Calhoun, 26, wound up signing on with the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent out of Minnesota back in 2016. He was waived a few months later and claimed off of waivers by the Browns.
Cleveland declined to tender Boddy-Calhoun a restricted contract, which allowed him to become an unrestricted free agent. He signed a one-year deal with the Texans back in March but was among their final roster cuts coming out of the preseason.
Since becoming a free agent, Boddy-Calhoun has worked out or visited with the Cardinals, Vikings, and Eagles but left each meeting without a contract.
In 2018, Boddy-Calhoun appeared in all 16 games for the Browns and recorded 56 tackles, no interceptions, a forced fumble, and two pass defenses.
Webster, 28, is a former third-round pick of the Broncos back in 2013. He played out his rookie contract before signing a two-year, $7.75 million deal that included $4.25 million guaranteed with the Rams in 2017.
Webster was set to make a base salary of $3 million for the 2018 season when the Rams released him during the offseason. He spent last year with the Texans before the Saints signed him to a contract this summer.
Unfortunately, Webster was released coming out of the preseason.
In 2018, Webster appeared in two games for the Texans and recorded one tackle and no interceptions.
