The Seahawks have officially designated TE Ed Dickson as one of their two players to return from injured reserve and placed S Tedric Thompson on injured reserve Wednesday.
According to Ian Rapoport, Thompson will undergo surgery to repair a torn labrum he had been dealing with this season.
This officially opens a three-week window of time for Lock to practice with the team before Seattle will need to add him to their active roster.
Dickson, 32, is a former third-round pick by the Ravens out of Oregon in the 2010 NFL Draft. He is entering the second year of a three-year, $10.7 million contract and is set to earn a $3.3 million base salary in 2019.
Dickson played out his three-year rookie contract in Baltimore before re-signing to a one-year deal as a restricted free agent. He signed a three-year deal with the Panthers in 2015 and finished out his contract before joining the Seahawks last year.
The Seahawks placed Dickson on injured reserve coming out of the preseason.
In 2018, Dickson appeared in 10 games for the Seahawks and recorded 12 receptions for 143 yards receiving (11.9 YPC) and scored three touchdowns.
