Seahawks First-Round DE L.J. Collier Likely To Miss Preseason With High Ankle Sprain

Seahawks first-round DE L.J. Collier was carted to the locker room on Tuesday after suffering a right ankle injury.

Ian Rapoport reports that Collier is believed to have suffered a sprained ankle and is likely out for the preseason.

According to Adam Schefter, Collier specifically has a high ankle sprain.

Collier was reportedly engaged with Duane Brown on a passing play when he went down in obvious pain.

Seattle is banking on Collier having an immediate impact for their defense after they traded away Frank Clark this offseason and the fact that they’ll be without DL Jarran Reid for the first month of the season, so this iso good news that it’s not something more serious.

Collier, 23, was the No. 29 overall pick by the Seahawks out of TCU. He earned a first-team All-Big 12 selection last season and was considered among the best defensive ends in a deep class.

Collier agreed to a four-year, $10,836,082 rookie contract including a $5,900,788 signing bonus.

During his four-year college career at TCU, Collier recorded 82 total tackles, 20.5 tackles for loss, 14.5 sacks, one interception, and five pass defenses.
