The Buffalo News reports that theย government officials have nothing to add to the case. Thomas Russert of the U.S. Border Patrol added that unless there is an arrest or criminal charges, they cannot provide any other information.

BuffaloSportsDaily.com reported earlier today that Bills LB Shawne Merriman โcaught carrying steroidsย near the United States border late Thursday night, July 28 on the eve of Billsโ training camp.โ
The report goes on to mention that Merriman wasn’t arrested for possessing steroids since it isn’t illegal to possess HGH (even though it is).
Merriman has since posted a reply via twitter.
“To answer your question guys im disappointed by a story that was written by a Buffalo writer regarding a routine stop at the Canadian border a few weeks ago.ย To clarify, there wasย absolutely NO steroidsย found in my vehicle & there were NO charges against me. Iโve received a great welcome by the community and fans.ย Iโve worked my butt off to have a great season.โ
This could end up being a huge ordeal for Merriman as he was suspended for four games back in 2006 after testing positive for nandrolene. Another suspension would all but derail his career as he’s lucky to even be playing for the Bills.
