Bears Waiving RB Mike Davis

The Chicago Bears are placing RB Mike Davis on waivers Saturday, according to Ian Rapoport

Davis confirmed the news via his Twitter account:

Nick Korte of OverTheCap.com previously mentioned that the Bears can protect a 2020 fourth-round compensatory pick for losing S Adrian Amos in free agency by releasing Davis.

This move leaves the Bears with David Montgomery and Tarik Cohen on their active roster at running back right now to go along with Ryan Nall and Kerrith Whyte, who are on the practice squad.

It would make sense for Chicago to promote either Nall or Whyte to their active roster at some point in the near future.

Davis, 26, is a former fourth-round pick of the 49ers back in 2015. He spent just over two years in San Francisco before he was waived and claimed off waivers by the Seahawks.

From there, Davis was on and off of the Seahawks’ roster before signing a two-year, $6 million contract with the Bears during the offseason.

In 2019, Davis has appeared in seven games and rushed for 25 yards on 11 carries (3.6 YPC) to go along with seven receptions for 22 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
