The Pittsburgh Steelers announced Friday that they’ve placed LB Ulysees Gilbert III on injured reserve and activated LB Vince Williams from the exempt list.
It’s worth mentioning that the NFL changed the rules regarding injured reserve for the 2020 season and players can return from the list in just three weeks.
Williams, 30, is a former sixth-round pick of the Steelers back in 2013. He was in the final year of his three-year, $6.175 million contract and set to make a base salary of $2 million for the 2018 season when he agreed to a new four-year deal worth $20.6 million in 2018.
In 2020, Williams has appeared in 12 games for the Steelers and recorded 63 tackles, three sacks and two fumble recoveries.
