On Sunday, Steelers Kย Chris Boswell told reporters that hisย agent and the team began contract negotiations last week regarding a long-term extension, per Ray Fittipaldo.
As of now, there’s nothing to report yet, according to Boswell.
Boswell, 27, originally signed on with the Texans as an undrafted free agent out of Rice back in 2014. He was among Houston’s final roster cuts coming out of the preseason and signed on to their practice squad.
The Texans wound up cutting him after a week and he eventually signed a futures contract with the Giants. He was, again, among the team’s final roster cuts but was signed and waived again shortly after.
The Steelers signed him to a two-year deal in 2015 and he brought him back on a futures contract the following year. Pittsburgh placed the second-round restricted tender on Boswell this offseason, which will cost them $2.914 million for the 2018 season.
Boswell will be an unrestricted free agentย in 2019.
In 2017, Boswell appeared in all 16 games for the Steelers and recordedย 35 field goals in 38 attempts (92.1 percent) and convertedย 37 of 39 extra point attempts (94.9 percent) to go along with 46 touchbacks.
